A Pair of Gardens ~ Modern and Contemporary The primary concept of landscape design for Westin Miyako Hotel Kyoto is to prepare settings for the genetics of garden that represents landscape of Kachosan Mountain to be regenerated.

The hotel has been renowned with a pair of garden in modern age and, in addition to those, a pair of contemporary garden was created in contrast.

Roof Garden

Taking advantage of the location which provide the entire landscape view of Kyoto Basin, a new roof garden was designed with taste of elegance that represents brand image of the hotel. The space widely opened to sky accommodates greens visually flowing down from Kachosan Mountain and wide variety of activities by the guests.

Main Courtyard

The main courtyard surrounded by mid-rise architecture is a grove garden enclosing scenic beauty of Higashiyama Mountains and its memories. It is an attempt to insert an original landscape of red pines forests associated with vegetation of the foothill into the physiognomy leading to evergreen forest through plant succession.
